Mistake

Damn, don’t you just hate it when retrospectively you wish you had done something differently and although now it seems to your mind almost painful that you took that course of action and you ask yourself?

“What on earth possessed you?”

But at the time as hard as it was it seemed like the only thing you could do. There in lies the beauty of learning from your mistakes I guess.

Although how you judge something as being a universal mistake I am not sure. Just because a particular method didn’t work in a particular situation doesn’t not mean that the actual approach is wrong maybe just that it was wrong for that particular situation.

Which then complicates the “beauty” of learning from your mistakes? Or maybe am just desperately trying to stave of a wave of cynicism that is upon me like a black cloud bringing immanent mancunian rain.

chin up sis, jolly good show and all that...

mistakes, see thats why they happen so we can ponder over them and learn from them, and how boring would our lives be without them...

Basically i booked my tickets before checking with someone if they where able to come on the same date. I had a telling of and that annoyed me because that someone said they were not coming untill after feb...blah...blah

anyway am sorry if i worried any1.

Aww my dear naima! Dwell not upon it for it cannot change anything woman and well, just move on.

Since we're on the topic of mistakes, one mistake i've NOT made recently is listening to possibly thee coolest rapper to walk this earth. I'm not a fan of rap, but this guy is just beyond fab. And he happens to be Somali too. Dunno if you've heard of K'naan. Listen to him! he's f'ing cool. Can you lend you his album if you want. Xx

Erm, can i make a little (pessimistic) comment about the title of your blog.

In times like these, its probably the most difficult time to be Black, Muslim and Female. It once was black, female and lesbian.

I don't mean it in a miserable way, but in the 'goddamn this society we need to change things' way. Things will progress, inshallah, we are moving in the right direction towards utopia. I'm sure of it.

I couldn't agree more, hopefully the blog will show just how normal we are ( although normal sounds so grey)

chin up, i keep hearing that... ;) am over that little episode alhamdulilah.

Usual tactic is to let things cool down for a couple of days and then talk to person concerned.

Hana i can't see you listening to rap, and am not a fan of the stuff either ( i can barely work out what is being said and when i do am scandalised)

K'naan, is that a Somali word? Pass it this way sister, this should make for some interesting listening.

btw does his rap have a social conscience or is it the usual profane crap.

LostKitty, I really wish you where coming with me i think we could both do with FINDING ourselves and our purpose.

Egypt oh Egypt yep i am still walking around with my ticket, just looking at it makes be brim with happiness...Insha Allah

K'naan is the somali brother who was in that video I posted with dead prez NM.....but I dont blame you, you have a memory of a fish....but then again so do I......

NM said...

Oh god yeah. the tall lanky dude... who if i remember correctly i actually couldn't tell was somali. lol

Who on earth is Dead Prez? the other guy, weren't there lots of other guys...

definately a memory like a fish, i love the way you remember all my dates thou ;)

what on earth does K'naan mean btw?

Hana Agil said...

K'naan DOES have a social, historical and religious(ish) conscience. His lyrics are in fact deep meaningful poetry and probably the best rapper of our time (although considering the calibre of other rappers, it doesnt take much to win that title).

Have a look on his website, he describes the history of Somalia so beautifully and has definitely taught me a thing or two (apologies for ignorance).

By the way what's your email address?
